  1. Just Ask – By simply asking for referrals you’ll get more. Sounds simple, and it is. However, many people have become gun-shy about asking for referrals because they did so in the wrong way and it created the “embarrassment factor.”
  2. Make Requesting Referrals a Consistent Part of Your Business – Educate your team about the importance of asking for referrals. Integrate asking for referrals into what you do by training the team HOW TO ASK.
  3. Provide Employee Rewards for Getting Referrals – Give employees a gift for each potential customer they refer to you when that prospect becomes a customer.
  4. Reward Your Customers for Referrals – For example, give customers who refer others a special gift such as a discount on services you provide to them or give them a monetary gift. As a general rule, I do not like to publish the “reward” but instead provide it as an unexpected gift… this stimulates even more referrals!
  5. Track the Results – Track the results from your referral activities, review your program several times a year and make ongoing changes to improve results. Not just the number of referrals but also the number that CONVERT to a client.

Referral marketing provides a highly effective way to boost profits at little to no cost. If you are getting referrals but don’t have a documented system to get referrals, develop a referral system now and watch your profits grow.
